Plano ISD will use Monday, April 26, as the designated inclement weather day for the weather-related closure on Thursday, February 11. Originally slated as a student holiday and staff development/work day, school will now be in session on April 26. TEA has approved waivers for the additional weather closures during Winter Storm Uri, so no additional make-up days are required.

Students are still giving 100% during COVID-19, so should the state! Texas PTA has joined with 22 other organizations asking Gov. Abbott to assure 100% ADA funding for the remainder of this school year.

Lend your voice! Follow this link to ask your legislators to appeal to Gov. Abbott on behalf of all public school students in Texas. #FundTheFuture

Did you know?  Some historians speculate that April Fools’ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. In the Julian Calendar, as in the Hindu calendar, the new year began with the spring equinox around April 1.
People who were slow to get the news or failed to recognize that the start of the new year had moved to January 1 and continued to celebrate it during the last week of March through April 1 became the butt of jokes and hoaxes and were called “April fools.” These pranks included having paper fish placed on their backs and being referred to as “poisson d’avril” (April fish), said to symbolize a young, easily caught fish and a gullible person. (from the History website).

Thursday, April 1 -- PTA is providing Sonic drink treats for the Schimelpfenig staff -- any drink switches are purely accidental (no April Fool's here!) 😉

Friday, April 2 -- Student/Teacher Holiday

Monday, April 5 -- Student/Teacher Holiday

Tuesday, April 6 -- Writing STAAR for 7th grade F2F students.

Don’t forget: your student needs to bring his/her fully-charged Chromebook, charger, a snack, and water bottle. Lunch from home is encouraged. Also consider having your student bring a book or drawing materials for something to do if he/she finishes the test early.

On March 19th, the The Plano ISD Board of Trustees announced that Plano ISD will be conducting a series of listening rounds to hear from families, students, staff and the community regarding their questions and concerns about bullying, harassment, acts of racism or other acts of intolerance.
