One of the groups our Band Director, Mr. Straka, plays in the clarinet section with will be performing a FREE concert this coming Sunday 11/19 at 2:30 in the beautiful Eisemann Performing Arts Center in Richardson. This is a great chance for the students to see and hear that performing music at a quality level is a life-long activity. He hopes you might be able to drive over and enjoy some great music!

Admission is a canned food item for the North Texas Food Bank
Are you missing something? Our LOST & FOUND is getting FULL! Stop by the lost and found in the cafeteria to see if your items have been turned in. Items that are not claimed by the Dec 20th will be donated.
The Winter Concert will now be Thursday, Dec. 14, at 6:15 PM, in the Gym.
The students will not be going home immediately after school that day. We will have a dress rehearsal at 3:45 and will then feed the students a pizza dinner. Parents, please plan on coming for the concert and then taking your child home after. The concert will begin in the gym promptly at 6:15. Please enter the school through the gym entrance.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the concert on Thursday, Dec. 14!
On 11/8, SMS band students competed in the final round of the Region 24 All Region Honor Band tryouts. Out of 1800 students auditioning from 32 different middle schools, Schimelpfenig placed 27 band students into an All Region honor band! Please congratulate the following students for earning a spot in the All Region Bands:
In addition, special congratulations to Royce Pu for earning the top ranking in the entire region on Tenor Saxophone! Congratulations to all of the SMS band students for representing us so well on 11/4 and 11/8! Mr. Straka and Mr. Altom are very proud of everyone’s hard work!

November is America/Texas Recycles Month, and the World Wear Project will donate an additional $100 to the PTA if we collect 2,500 lbs or more in the bin this month. So clean out your house of your gently used shoes, clothing, purses, belts, wallets, hats, caps, backpacks, hard toys, stuffed animals and pots and pans before the relatives come visit for the holidays and help divert these items from landfills.
