World Wear Project - One way to donate to SMS PTA

Clean out your clutter of old toys, kitchen items, unused towels and bedding and of course CLOTHES!  Bring them up to the BIG BLUE Bin located in the west parking lot. 

It is that time of year when World Wear Project offers an incentive of $100 if we collect 2,500 lbs. or more of shoes, clothing and other items they accept during the month of November in conjunction with American/Texas Recycles Month.  Please help our school to get an extra $100!

PTA Reflections Program Theme Search Contest

National PTA is seeking a theme for the 2022-2023 Reflections program year. The student who submits the winning entry will receive $100, and his or her theme will be presented at the 125th Annual National PTA Convention and Exhibition in June 2021.

Deadline for theme submissions:

November 5, 2020

Next week is Red Ribbon week.  Schimelpfenig students will be recognizing Red Ribbon week with daily dress-up themes:

• Monday, October 26:  Don’t Let Drugs Get in the Way of your Wildest Dreams – Pajama Day
• Tuesday, October 27:  Combat Drugs – Camo Day
• Wednesday, October 28:  Put a Cap on Drugs – Hat/Cap Day
• Thursday, October 29:  Drugs Will Have you Mixed Up! – Crazy Outfit, Tie-Dye or Crazy Hair
• Friday, October 30 – Think Pink: Future is Bright! No Drugs in Sight! – Pink Out Day 

Encourage your students, whether Face to Face or @Home, to join in the fun in recognition of drug awareness.  Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free.

The deadline for Reflections submissions has been extended to Monday, November 9th!  More information about the Reflections contest and how you child can enter are available in this newsletter, below.

October Treats for Teachers and Staff

Update:  Thanks for everyone who helped complete the sign-up so quickly!  There will be another opportunity to treat our teachers in November on Pie Day.

SMS PTA GOT EARLY BIRD AWARD FROM TEXAS PTA!

Texas PTA’s Early Bird Achievement Award. Texas PTA’s Early Bird Achievement Award was presented to each Local PTA that accomplished early success by submitting membership rosters and dues for 100% or more of the previous year’s total membership by September 30th.
