This week, a few more students returned to Face to Face instruction.  Welcome back, it’s great to see you in person!  It seems like the first day to you, no doubt, but soon it will seem like you’ve been back at Schimelpfenig for weeks.

And, with more students in school, it’s a perfect time to remind everyone how important it is to wash your hands!  Today, October 15th, is Global Handwashing Day, which serves as a yearly reminder that handwashing with soap and water is one of the best steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.  The COVID-19 pandemic provides an important reminder that one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of germs and stay healthy is also one of the simplest — wash your hands!

Early  voting started on Tuesday and continues every day through October 30th.  For tips on how to safely vote in person, check out https://www.healthyvoting.org/texas/.  For information about voting, polling places, sample ballots, and non-partisan information about candidates for office, check out the League of Women Voters of Collin County at https://www.lwvcollin.org/ 

October is National Bullying Prevention Month.  National PTA and Google have teamed up to share tools and resources for families to help teach kids to be safe, smart, and kind online with the Be Internet Awesome program.  A free Webinar -- Be Internet Awesome with Google: #ItsCoolToBeKind Workshop -- is being offered on October 19th from 1:00-1:30 CST. Sign up now!

The PISD Education Foundation Honor Roll Campaign

Everyone can make a contribution - www.pisd.edu/honorrollcampaign-  and help to positively impact students, teachers and classrooms throughout Plano ISD.  Any individual contributing $40 or more will receive an AWESOME “I Support Plano ISD” t-shirt that can be worn to show community support for our amazing students and teachers. Employers- If you choose to make a $40 contribution per employee, YOU ROCK and each of your employees will receive a t-shirt. We will also recognize all organizations on social media and in our annual report that achieve 80% participation or more!
