Students participating in Plano ISD activities are REQUIRED to have a yearly physical prior to participation in ANY tryouts, practices or games/competitions. Physicals must be completed on or after April 1, 2023 for participation in the 2023-2024 school year. Physicals must be completed on the official UIL physical form.

If you choose to have your physical completed on your own, it must be completed on the UIL form. The form must be signed by the clinician performing the physical. The form also requires them to mark the DATE OF EXAM and to list their NAME, ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER.

Attire: Shorts and T-Shirt *There will be VISION SCREENING please bring corrective lenses. Females -Sports Bra along with Shorts and T-Shirt

Forms: Print and fill out medical history form; also print physical form. Bring both with you to exam. Forms will be supplied on site if you don’t bring them with you. Medical history form MUST be completed before physical is performed.

Online forms: *Available July*- Each athlete must have all online paperwork completed to participate in any athletic activity. Please go to rank one sport to complete the online forms. The medical history will also need to be completed online for the 2023-2024 school year. Parents/guardians will be able to upload an image of the physical form straight into RankOne. Therefore all original copies will be sent home with the athletes.



Schimelpfenig and NJHS are hosting the annual Lunch-A-Palooza fundraiser on Friday, May 19th and we need your help during the two weeks of pre-sales collecting money and help the day of with candy sales. If are able, please consider signing up for a slot to help.

The Beal Bank Dallas Regional Science and Engineer Fair was Feb. 18th in Dallas. Congratulations to the follow students:

4th place in their category: Keshav G, Riya C

 

The Texas State Science and Engineer Fair was March 24-26 in College Station. Schimelpfenig had more students competing than any other Plano Middle School this year.

Congratulations to Shruti P who also placed 3rd in her category!

Registration for the Plano ISD Computer Science Summer Bridge Program is now open to current 8th graders who will be 9th graders in the Fall 2023.  Students in this program will learn to program solutions while using the Python programming language, learn about careers in computer science, and engage with professionals from the computer science field.  Space is limited.

There will be two sessions offered at no charge to the students.  This program will take place at Williams High School.  Transportation will be provided from middle schools across the district.  

  • June 5 -8, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.  (includes 30 minute lunch)

  • June 12-15, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.  (includes 30 minute lunch)


Two levels of this program will be offered.  

  • Beginner Level 1 - students who have little to no experience in programming 

  • Novice Level 2 - students who took Fundamentals of Computer Science and/or Python specific camps.

The Gateway Engineering Summer Camp is a hands-on, project-based camp designed to introduce incoming 7th and 8th grade middle school students to the fundamentals of STEM and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering courses within Plano ISD. Certified PLTW instructors provide expert instruction in a fun, exciting environment using leading-edge technologies to sample engineering related activities and projects and get a taste of how fun it can be to be an engineer.


 
 

 

Book Fair is right around the corner!  It will be the week of February 27- March 3. Friday, February 24 help is needed to set up the fair. Open House is Monday night, February 27. Click here to see times and dates.
