Incoming 6th graders, here is more information regarding Cub Camp! Cub Camp is an orientation camp for incoming 6th graders to Schimelpfenig Middle School. It will be on Monday, August 3rd from 9am–12pm.

It is for students and parents. Students will come and stay. Students will tour the campus, find their classes, and learn about all things middle school. Students will need to be picked up at 12pm.

Parents are not required to stay, but parents can stay for the optional parent sessions. This session will last from 9-10:30 and it will be informational regarding the school, classes, rules and policies, expectations, and many other topics. If this is your first student at Schim, we highly recommend parents to attend the parents session. If you are a veteran Schim parent, the choice is yours. Younger siblings are able to stay with their parent. Younger siblings will not rotate with the student.

If you have any other questions, please email Melanie Taylor, the Team Leader, at Melanie.taylor2@pisd.edu.

Save the Date! We are excited to welcome our Panthers back for the 2026-2027 school year! Please save the date for two important back to school events on Monday, August 3.

🐾 Cub Camp (for incoming 6th graders): 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Orientation for new students to get acquainted with Schimelpfenig MS. 6th graders will tour the campus, learn their way around the building, take students ID photo, meet staff, and become familiar with middle school before the first day of school.

🐾 Panther Preview (for returning 7th and 8th graders): 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Returning students are invited to walk their class schedules, locate their classrooms, and have their student ID photos taken before the school year begins. This is a great opportunity to get comfortable with your schedule and campus before the first day of school.

Additional information about both events will be shared later this month.

We welcome volunteers at the school and at our PTA events.  Per district policy, you must be VOLY approved to be around students.  VOLY approvals expire every year in June and must be redone each year in July, regardless of any previous year approval.  Please go to plano.voly.org to get your approval started now!

Throughout my career, I have taught in Oklahoma City ISD, Dallas ISD, Richardson ISD, and Plano ISD, where I have proudly served for the past 20 years.

Teaching has always been my passion, and I am grateful for the students, families, and colleagues who have made this journey so meaningful.
