It is once again time to elect a nominating committee to recommend a slate of officers for the SMS PTA for the 24-25 school year. Per our bylaws, the nominating committee is comprised of 5 individuals and 2 alternates. The president and anyone who served on the committee last year is ineligible to serve. The committee will be elected at our general meeting on 1/25. Please consider volunteering to develop a slate of recommended officers that will further our mission to support our students, staff and parents. You will receive directions and guidance and the process generally just takes 2 or 3 hours and a couple of meetings to finalize. Questions can be directed to Terri Childress, Parliamentarian, at terri.childress@att.net. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

No school on Monday, January 15 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr Day.
This year, our Panther family will be participating in a campus wide community service project on the last day of the semester. We have chosen to partner with Children's Hospital in providing one of their greatest needs, blankets for their patients. December 21st will be a half day for our students, and, that morning, our students and staff will make no-sew blankets to donate to this worthy cause.
Our goal as a campus is to make 300 blankets, but, in order to make this happen, we will need fleece...LOTS of fleece, 1200 yards to be exact, as it requires 4 yards of fleece to make one blanket. We have already had a very generous corporate donation to get us started, but much more will be needed. Only blizzard and anti-pill fleece can be used, and, if possible, please donate in increments of two yards. We would love to be able to show our Schim spirit by using our school colors in solids, plaids, and prints, but we are happy to accept any other colors donated.
Please click on the link to sign up for donations and to get more details about how we all can positively impact our community this holiday season. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Schimelpfenig PTA met all the requirements to earn Good Standing status for 2023-2024 as part of the Local PTA Standards of Continuing Affiliation.
Please help our SMS Student Council "Can Hunger" by making a donation that will benefit the The Caring Place, a food pantry and clothes closet located within our own community. The Caring Place is currently in need of snacks, canned and boxed food items, toiletries (bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant), cooking utensils, and more. Please refer to the flyer below for a detailed list of items needed. Donations can be dropped off in boxes located in the front office between Friday, December 1st and Friday, December 15th. Please consider giving to this worthy cause.
Lunchapalooza is coming to Panther Country! This special block lunch event will take place on Thursday, December 21st. Beginning Wednesday, December 6th, students can bring $7.00 to the table in the cafeteria during their lunch time to pre-purchase their Lunchapalooza meal. For this amount, a student will receive 2 slices of cheese pizza, a bag of chips, and a soda or a bottle of water. Students are able to buy multiple meals if they would like more pizza. The presale window opens on Wednesday, December 6th, and runs through Friday, December 15th. Students will NOT be able to purchase a Lunchapalooza meal after this date. Sales are cash only. On the day of the event, the lunch line will still be open, and students can still bring their own lunches if they prefer.
If you have questions about Lunchapalooza, please contact Shelby Rose.
We’re excited to announce that we received the Golden Apple Award for having 100% of our teachers join our PTA. PTA is parents and teachers working together to advocate for our kids.
