Library Volunteers

Schimelpfenig library volunteers take some of the load off the library staff so they can concentrate on providing the best learning environment possible. Parents are needed every day of the week and no experience is necessary. Shifts are 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and they can be adjusted to fit your schedule. A Library Volunteer assists with a variety of library tasks including:

  • working the circulation desk (checking books in & out)
  • helping students find books
  • shelving books
  • pulling books for class assignments
  • book repair
  • occasional projects (laminating, poster making, copying, lists)

For more information, contact libraryvols@smspta.org.

**Before volunteering in the library, you will need to complete the volunteer application form on the PISD website. Please remember that you must re-apply after July 1st each year, so if you have not done so for the current school year, you will need to do that as soon as possible because the process takes 2-3 days.
